'Foundry' is the handle taken by video artist Neil Antcliff, who became involved in the nu.art project through his social association with street art collective Grafik Warfare, alongside the nu.art exhibition's curator. Foundry's work can be placed in the genre of 'dirt style', a term coined by new media site 'Rhizome.org', and understood to describe work which pushes the boundaries of typical new media projects by exaggerating the limits of software and hardware, focusing on pixelation and low frame rates. Foundry's animations are 'mash-ups': using copy-and-paste methods, gathering images from the net, copyright free books and personally shot video footage with a backdrop of sound sampled from downloaded MP3s. Layering content from such different sources into one scene on Macromedia Flash MX produces visually impressive results.
